We provide a plain-language starting point on VA disability ratings, compensation, claims, appeals, and veterans’ benefits. We prioritize primary sources whenever possible, including Department of Veterans Affairs publications, statutes, regulations, and Board of Veterans’ Appeals reports. We may use reputable public-interest research when a primary source does not publish relevant information in a usable format.

Tables and calculators are educational tools. They simplify complex rules and may use assumptions that do not apply to every reader. They are not benefit determinations, legal valuations, plan quotes, or guarantees of an outcome.
